Technical and Scientific Cooperation

International cooperation can benefit biodiversity protection. Through the generosity of international organisations, treaties, conventions and co-operation, Zambia has received technical, monetary and material support to enhance effort in the conservation of biodiversity. Zambia has ratified several treaties which promote biodiversity conservation such as:

  • RAMSAR Convention on Wetlands
  • CITES of Wild Fauna and Flora
  • Lusaka Agreement
  • United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
  • United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

The country also cooperates with neighbouring states through Joint Permanent Commissions (JPC) which periodically deliberate on management of biological resources especially fish and wildlife.
